Compared to other yeast bread recipes, this soft french bread whips up in half the time. It takes less than ten minutes to put together, an hour and a half of rising and ten minutes to bake. Then you’ve got delicious french bread piping hot from the oven! Serve with butter and jam, with a hunk of cheese or in a cup of slow cooker french onion soup. It also makes an excellent pizza crust if you’re looking for something homemade.
Here’s How:
Mix together and dissolve:
1 cup warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
2 Tablespoons sugar
Add:
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons olive oil
Stir/Knead In:
2 to 3 (+/-) cups flour, white or wheat

***Be careful not to add too much flour or your dough will be dry and chunky. After kneading in the flour, it should be elastic and slightly sticky***
Let dough raise for an hour. Knead dough lightly and shape into a french loaf. Let it raise for another half hour then score bread gently with a sharp knife.
Brush on melted butter or egg white if desired. Bake at 400F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
